Intranet Sites :: An intranet is a
private Web site that is available only to certain people, such as
the employees of a company. All information contained
and distributed on an intranet is secured by a firewall, which
limits access to users inside your organization.
A staff intranet can be more than a bulletin board. Intranets can
increase collaboration, streamline administration, and aid
scheduling.
Collaboration
- Discuss. Chat
rooms, discussion forums, and e-mail discussion lists can enable
your staff to discuss company strategies
and provide a mechanism for on-going performance evaluation.
- Conference.
Audio/video conferencing can help your staff collaborate
throughout your organization and enable them to attend meetings from remote offices. Staff members
can be more productive when they don’t have to travel to
meetings and when they can work while listening to a broadcast.
- Research. A research and resource library on your
intranet can be a timesaver. Use document libraries on the network
and easily convert information to Web pages, use Web-based forms
to allow staff to submit articles and links, or put training
materials online—not just text but audio and video clips as well.
Administration
- Share. Regulations,
emergency procedures, human resources materials, and other
relatively static information can be posted on the intranet.
Converting paper-based forms to the intranet can dramatically
simplify information flow and filing.
- Store. The
intranet is also a great place to put information that changes
regularly. Staff directory databases can be accessed — and
updated — from the intranet.
- Schedule. You can put
many types of schedules on your intranet, including staff
meetings, conferences, and other activities.
- Vote. You can set up online voting on staff decisions. You
can save valuable meeting time and include all staff members at
their convenience.

Extranet
Sites :: Extranets are
private web sites that provide secure environments for a select
group of users, typically clients, partners, or co-workers in remote
locations, to share documents and information.
Levels of access can be customized to manage the amount and type of
information made available to different groups of users.
Benefits of extranets can include:
- Shorter development cycles through
enhanced collaboration, faster approvals, instant access to
information, and reduced travel and training time
- Cost savings associated with more efficient employee training,
reduced cost of mailing and distribution of materials, faster
invoicing, and reduced person-to-person service calls.

Which Web-Based
Solutions meet your company's needs? |
 |
|
|
Marketing :: In order for a website
to be effective it needs to help you positively define your brand
value online. It must support your strategic marketing campaigns and product
promotions, while it provides deeper support (and deeper value)
to your current and prospective clients than would be practical
offline.
|
 |
E-Commerce :: Online commerce
provides an easy way to penetrate a new geographic territory or
to identify and target customer segments that otherwise
would be difficult or costly to serve. Large, small or specialized businesses can use
an online sales sites to sell on a worldwide basis with little extra
cost of doing so. This ability to tap into expanded domestic or even
international markets can be an immediate revenue boost for initial
orders and especially for reorders.
|
 |
Specialized Application :: Your business
requires an application that can run on multiple operating systems or hardware platforms. Creating such an application as an intranet application reduces cost of and reliance on continuous updates to your business' hardware environment.
|
 |
Digital Content Delivery :: The Internet is especially well suited to the delivery of
digital content to a customer. This content ranges across music,
movies, photos, news and information, interactive multiplayer games,
books, magazines, and almost anything else that can be digitized.
Revenues may come from pay per use or subscriptions.
